I am an English lawyer and have just watched the Newsnight programme describing your case. My mother had her first child, my eldest brother, on my grandmother’s kitchen table. He is 65 now and very healthy. I am the youngest and 51. I admire your courage. I am the first to think that, if there might be complications, it would be good to be close to a hospital. But when my mother gave birth to her first child she did not have anyone as expert as you are with her: just her GP and her Mum. She found it very soothing, as my father was already in Malaya, to have her mother there and her mother cooked her four scrambled eggs after the birth because she was so hungry! I pray that this prejudice will dissolve. The women who chose to have you deliver their babies are very lucky to have someone so expert, who does not take bribes either.
